Project 3- site

Project 3

Facade
The gallery is as height as surrounding buildings that is 6 m. The facade face the king street depicts a V shape leading and attract people from wide world to a small world that is described by artists. The world outside is realistic, while inside the gallery is itineraries which different viewers create their own world. The façade face the park has been built to a courtyard provides beautiful view out to the landscape. Courtyard is also part of the gallery represent the nature should be parts of the building and both these parts should be confluent.

Apartment
The apartment is located separately at the back of the gallery, while a wall with glass used to connect the apartment and the gallery which provide a direct view from apartment to the gallery. The back of the site is quite and the courtyard informs natural sense outdoor, fresh air and natural light. People are the major assert and expense of the gallery, they prefer to work and live in daylight and choose to locate close to a window.

Wall
Because the gallery is in teeth building, thus windows are hardly applied to those facades adhere to neighbors. Therefore few curing walls are constructed to increase the interface of natural light and quantity of window. Moreover, the view from window is our contact with the world outside, it provides information. A view satisfies the physiological need for the adaptation and readaption of the eye to distance, providing a visual rest centre. For this reason, any view is better than no view. Furthermore, these curving walls create small courtyards.

Daylight control screen are also applied: The way in which artificial lighting could enhance and dramatize a display in the courtyard in spite of the very high level of day lighting. Moreover, the way in which the design of the exhibition fabric and lighting could help to overcome the problem of a visitor’s adaptation to the different lighting level on entering the casemates.

The exhibition space is frequently viewed as support that should highlight the artist’s work.
“In an art gallery, one walk around a painting and turn to look at it again because one wants to re-examine it, this time more carefully, after seeing in the next room a small exquisite painting. So the visitor wonder about, making comparison because as we all know from experience, differences between things become visible through close comparison. And this is what we do in museum.”
The circulation of the gallery is designed to distinguish the flow of visitors that are interested in the most famous work from those who want to see everything, thus no rooms in the gallery must be passed. Visitors can decide the way they want to travel. Moreover, there is a attempt to simplify the flow of persons, minimizing the interference between who are observing the works and who are walking past.

The living space with kitchen facilities is sit next to the apartment. Visitors could choose their way to exhibition space or the living space at the back entrance.

The stockroom is sit at the other corner facing the living space which is quite and private.

Visitors could observe works on both ground level and upper level and decided their itineraries. In addition, the people on the exhibition spaces could be regard as dynamic aesthetic works.

Light & window

It light that become matter
When it finished being light
All matter is light
Light is source of all being

The hormonorium establishes a synthesis of the organic the state of mind and space, and also a continuum between architecture and the human metabolism, between spaces, light.
Artificial lights are introduced locally to enhance the paintings. Vision is enhanced by good contrast and that the natural colour of daylight increase daylight.

SKylight

The general brief for the daylight is to provide a flexible and easily controlled system suitable for all of the top lit light galleries. There was a desire to allow as much daylight into the building consistent with the need of conservation, so that the natural variation of daylight could be enjoyed.

Light and Interior space

In a lot of cases this lighting is designed with great care to create the desired effect.

Light indoors has a very different character to that found outside, mostly down to the lack of direct sunlight found indoors. With human beings in control of the light source there is an added twist in that the light is often designed for a specific purpose.Sunlight indoors is almost always diffused as it bounces between walls, floors and ceilings. Direct sunlight can get in through windows and skylights but because of the comparatively small size of windows in relation to walls much of our homes never comes under the light of the sun before it has been reflected by one surface or another. The colour of the light is dependent on many things: firstly the weather will affect the light coming through the window, if it is overcast the initial light will be white, grey or blue. In sunny conditions it will be either blue skylight or white, yellow or red sunlight .Once the light comes through the window it will also be affected by the surfaces that it reflects from in the room. Wall, floor and furniture colours will all influence the light as it bounces around.

ARCH1201-Project 2 Dutch painting

Pieter de Hooch's Linen closet( 1663) 70cm*75.5cm

In this painting, the closrt and the exterior space could be the brightest areas. The strong sensation is that the viwer couldn't just stay static, but onvited to move though the space depicted. Although the little girl is in black. However she is mirror the young woman standing in front of the closet. For example, they both hold their hands at waist. Hence, the little gilr could also be the centre point of this painting.

A man and a woman standing in front of the closet and the little standing by the door leading outside. While the gilr's eyes are show interesting to what is inside the closet. Thus, this little girl may be imaging the world in side the closet is another kind of world.

My narrative is: A Child's Hallway into Fantasy

Model:

I use orange and blue plastics to identify cold and warm color which create different mood of the space.

For some of walls, there are no windows on them cause i wanna to create the mood the little girl may be scared by no lights around her. While there are varies gaps on the wall which light can coming though them and lead the girl to find the way to fantasy world.

When the light coming first though the skylight and the pin holes. The space inside is different from what is outside.

Using basic elements: circle and suqare to create the space and use the balsa wood as material are because the last project House for Dr BatholomeuszZaw. The most significant point get from it is nature. For this project I also want to explore the geometry that create unformal shadows on them when the light coming though the gaps. it can also be a part of the girl's imagnation.

My site is decided on a mountain valley which can the lowest point in thw world because this space is the girl's imagnation of fantasy world therefore no one else can reach here and enter the space. The exterior is like a box, when you look at it, you can't get what is the inside world.
